Assalamualaikum WBT,

It has been a while my dearie readers, I am so sorry for not writing any input here. Well, as far I think I could cope with two blogs, it turned out that I had not enough time to do some research on English language in any aspects, and also my other blog, New Interesting Manuscripts (NIM), its actually quite hard. I need to write in Malay and English, both have different medium. I tend to use my own mother tongue to write in NIM and I have to use my second language for The English Journey (TEJ), well, both need to have input otherwise it would just mere common blogs right?

Now I have found amazing article to be paraphrase, revise and segment because I need to write it in my own understanding otherwise, if I just put everything in, it would be some plagiarism right? Its a no-no in any academic writing. I actually consider what I am doing here in this blog it more like academic writing, even though it is not as academic as those thesis or academic article written by amazing academia. 

I actually very love learning English language and to me English language is very much the same as other languages. Its very lovely actually. I really want to actually further my studies in English language it I can, it would be in English Literature or Sociolinguistics. To be honest, I have found these two subjects would be very interesting. Literature is more on the creative side where we need to analyse what would be the inside meaning of others works. Let say, analysing Shakespeare's works and trying to be creative mind and trying to see the underlying meaning of his works. How amazingly difficult to convey that meaning and trying to tear thing apart for the sake of your thesis, right? hehe..

On the other hand, we have another amazingly fact subject, which is Sociolinguistics; focusing how social background affects language acquisitions. Fascinating subjects indeed. Plus, there are many elements that we need to think of in Sociolinguistics, semantic, phonology, sentence structure and whatnot. Why these elements is important? It is because, in looking indepth on the affect of social background to language acquisitions, we need to look at these elements. Nothing is sure, unless you managed to get the unbeatable evidences in your defense in let say, Viva? Right?

Personally, I would love to take on any each, but thinking about things might come in my way, it made me think twice before making such decision. Hahaha... well, tomorrow is new year right? So, happy new year and make your 2014 an big history that you would never forget and let 2015 a big year to come. Indeed, you have to make something for 2015, and I will. Yes.

Language Learning Strategies : Memory Strategies

Now, in the last entry I wrote about this,

Learning Strategies 

Bear in mind, this is about learning strategies not learning styles. They have their differences, okay? 

Now, we are going to talk about Memory Strategies.

What is memory strategies? Is it that important in learning language?

Memory strategies is a particular activity to help learning language by memorising the words and the structures of the language. 

It is actually very important because, since we are English Second Language Learners (ESL), we need to actually memorise words at the beginning but eventually memorising will become retrieve. Meaning, we know the word already, we have memorised them and all we need to is just retrieve. That is all. But at the beginning, it is memorising then it turned into already there. Hope this work. hehe... I am not really good in explaining things. hehe..

So, what are the memory strategies?

Well, as an example, have played flash cards before? Kindergarten maybe? So that is memory strategies, well, one of those million activities in learning English language using memory strategies. In Flash cards we tend to memorise them right? 

Usually in Flash Cards, there are two separate elements, which are, images (pictures) and also words (alphabets). Either way, the intentions is to make our mind memories the shown cards and learning language *thats the ultimate intention. 

It is also the same with songs. We remember the lyrics with the songs together but then when we know the words already, do we need to look for the lyrics in paper? No right? Why? Because we remember the words, the structures already. Why that happened? It happened because the words already stored in our mental lexicon bank. Amazing right? Cute.

Learning English Grammar : Collective Nouns.

Today, I am going to write more on Nouns and for today's topic would be, Collective Nouns

Now, I will be explaining about the Collective Nouns.

What is Collective Nouns?

Collective nouns is the name of a number (or collection) of people or things taken together and spoken of as one whole. For example, "a troupe of dancers".

*it is different with Countable and Uncountable Nouns. Take notes.

Sometimes, we group certain nouns together and speak of them as a whole. We use special words for such nouns. And this called, Collective Nouns. In English language, there are tonnes of Collective Nouns impression, and its divided into three groups, animal, people and things.

People :

a company of actors
a troupe of dancers
a gang of labourers
a band of musicians
a team of players
a choir of singers
a class of pupils
a staff of servants

Animals:

a nest of ants
a flock of sheep
a pack of wolves
a school of whales
a team of oxen
a herd of buffalos
a litter of kitten

Things :

a flight of aeroplane
a collection of pictures
a set of tools
a flight of steps
a bundle of sticks
a bunch of grapes

And many more.

Well, this is easy right, you just need to read more, this is because, sometimes, you apply technically, but you have to read in order for you to get the knowledge. okay?

Harry Potter series.

"Clearly, fame isn't everything".- Professor Snape.

Well, obviously, those days people believe in everything but now, fame actually a stepping stone to seal lots of deals, really.

I am not watching the Harry Potter series. I really love visiting my those years and I just simply watching Harry Potter series and I will immediately remember my days. Hahaha.. really, no kidding.

Actually, revisiting the old days is very good, why? Because, we could easily learn a few things there.

Well, I need to watch this series. Love it.

I really want to thank Friso Gold commercial for featuring Bai Ann's song, The Incredible Journey because, today, I heard my nephew sings it to my ears today, and whenever the song comes out, they actually remember the melody and also the lyrics. 

So, congratulations to Friso Gold for doing great in the commercial.

I too have downloaded the amazing song from the internet and seriously, the song was soothing and yet very harmonious, I really love it.

It actually shows that, learning is at it best when it comes to music. I too learn *and still learning English language through music. Well, there are people learning English through games so, I could easily conclude that, learning languages (English) is at it best when it comes to entertainment. Obviously, people especially children love entertainment.

Since they were toddlers, most of the parents were singing them songs, then they bigger, the parents give them handphones, Ipads and what not to their children so that they could learn something from it. And when they managed to be able to tap on these touch screens gadgets, they are able to actually play something and most of the apps on the internet are in English, so, there you goes, my explanation is valid for present times. Haha...

But, those for children these days, but for me, I was not like that. I learned from books, tv, musics, lyrics *i even have lyric books, both Malay and English language. I just want to learn. That is all, I think, my passion is just English language. Why? I've tried to learn other languages, like Mandarin, French, German, but I just could not, but hey, nothing wrong with that right? hahaha..

How do you do everyone?

 

I am so sorry for not posting entries for this pass days. I am sorry, not that I have nothing to be written or posted but due the internet connection, I found myself in the lost mode and my mind automatically went 'blank mode' because of the problems. *sigh

 

Now, I have the connection and I am going to write about one thing. Movies. Yes, movies, when we talk about movies, there are thousands of them, in fact, there are billion of movies produced by the producers. Amazing huh? and imagine the cost to make the movies, right? Some were successful and some were just thrown into the drain, all the efforts. Pity them.

 

But, I am here not gonna talk about the producers or the actors or the actresses, I am going to write about the movies that I love. Yes, there are several movies that I really love. As you all know, I am a big fan of Harry Potter movies, I may not the biggest fan but, I almost know all the dialogues in the movies, like all the movies. I am not bored to watch it over and over again. yup!

 

There is another movie that I really like, Lords of The Ring. Yes, I love these movies very much. I am.

 

Well, you can conclude that I am a magic, fairytale kind of man, I guessed. Hahaha.. but I do too love drama. Precious for instance, it gave me chills on the drama side. It touched me while watching it. Precious is about a girl who really do not have anything and she was raped by the step dad in front of her mum. And she gave birth to her step-dad children. TWICE! She did not know how to read and she did not know how to write, to the world and herself, she was hopeless, until, there is one amazing social worker, a teacher, who taught her in some sort of special classroom and it was funded by the Welfare. This is very good story. Another drama based on true story would be, Blind Side. This is too amazing movie, trust me! GO and find it, it will tear your eyes watching these movies.

 

I have one dislike movie genre of all time, that is, romance. I am so sorry, I could not help myself hating this genre. Its just did not work for me. I just nope! I could not watch it, I am so sorry. I just do not know why, sorry. Haha.. I would better watch cartoons or read a book over romance-genre-movies. Sorry. yup!, nope! And damn! I am not a romantic person eyh? Sorryy...

 

Well, I too love watching cartoons. Yup, anime, manga something like that. I just love it, it somehow re-live my childhood expectation towards cartoons, which is having great colours. Haha.. no just kidding. I just want to re-live my childhood amazing adventurous times. That is all, nothing more. There is one amazing cartoon that I still remember from those childhood years, Dragon Ball! Anyone? Dragon Ball is like the best ever anime aired on TV2 right, on Sunday, 9 AM. Still remember that very much. I woke up early in the morning just to watch that one hour cartoon. Yup, amazing days, those days. Now? I still watch cartoons, there are a few cartoon based channels on Astro, so, there is no way I could not watch cartoons. Hehehe.. I even fight with my nephews. Hahaha.. imagine that!

 

I guessed that is just all for today. Oh, wait, J.K. Rowling, announced on her Facebook status that she was approached by Warner Bros and they were really interested to film her book, which book? The Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. And as the fan of Harry Potter, Hogwarts and J.K.Rowling, I am very delighted to hear this amazing news. Love it. Just love it. I could not imagine any other character except for Luna Lovegood to get into the movie. Let her moment to shine! She is Loony Luna but she is amazing!

Why Do I Blog?

Assalamualaikum WBT,

People usually ask me,

"why do you blog? is it good.. blogging? What do you write? why?"

Well, slow down girls, boys, one questions at a time eyh? Okay, my actually purpose of blogging was assignment. I have another blog called New Interesting Manuscripts (NIM) and I write almost everything. Before I personalised my blog, NIM, it was actually a assignment blog where I wrote about Public Relations and everything about PR. Then, after the assignment was done, I personalised my NIM.

I started writing about all the things around me, environments, surroundings, friends, family, food that I ate, drinks that I drank, past experiences, Internship, almost everything and I love writing it. To be honest, that time, I did not read others blog and personally, I did not really know how to blog. Yes, there are books about Blog for dummies but hell, I am not buying it, why? So, I just wrote everything that I feel good to be discussed.

Before this, I had hard to actually write things. I did not love writing subject, well, I just did not know what to write, but, when I blog, I found that writing is not that hard. As long as you can relate things, then, you can write. As long as you topic is great and the explanation is amazing, then, you achieved the point already.

So, what is the purpose of me blogging?

I write because I want to share, I want to people experience what I have been experienced. I want them to feel the excitement of my story. Well, even though it is not that excited, but hey, as long as I write, then, its okay.

It is not that hard to write something that closed to you. Something that personal to you. Right?

Getting Rid of Things.

Assalamualaikum WBT,

Yes, I get rid of my old broken bed. Single bed. It was broken last year but I ignored the broken part and later after it was broken, I fixed it by placing one small box chair under it and it was okay. Until yesterday, I felt like, "it is time for me to let go". Sad? Naaahhh.. I was happy. Very happy.

First, I swept all dusts and such, then, I took of all about 12 pillows, Yes! Just for me. 12 pillow. Call me crazy. Then, I asked my mum, * I need mum's agreement on this, So, I asked her,

"mum, kalau buang katil adik tu boleh tak?" *yes, adik means little brother, huahuahua..

Mum answered,

"Buang je lah, lagipun dah tak elok kan?"

Green light, received clearly! Thank you.

Then, I took the pelapik off and then the bed. I was very happy and now, even though I do not have bed but my room has bigger space. Huahuahua.. which its amazing. You might surprise if I show you my room. It is small. Very small but I am happy. Really happy. Yes.

And, now, I am actually waiting for my brother's wardrobe and he wants to buy new wardrobe, so, I asked him to give it to me. Hahahha.. he said, "okay". but you have to wait for me to buy new wardrobe.

I was like, thank you Allah, even though, its all hand-me-down-things, who cares? I dont! Why should I? I am no cheapskate but I am trying my very best to actually not to buy new things that no necessary, why? because I just think it unnecessary. That is all. Nothing more.

Well, try to watch Extreme Cheapskates on TLC 707, hell!! hahahha
