Happy New Year my Dear Readers. Love u all.

Assalamualaikum WBT,

It has been a while my dearie readers, I am so sorry for not writing any input here. Well, as far I think I could cope with two blogs, it turned out that I had not enough time to do some research on English language in any aspects, and also my other blog, New Interesting Manuscripts (NIM), its actually quite hard. I need to write in Malay and English, both have different medium. I tend to use my own mother tongue to write in NIM and I have to use my second language for The English Journey (TEJ), well, both need to have input otherwise it would just mere common blogs right?

Now I have found amazing article to be paraphrase, revise and segment because I need to write it in my own understanding otherwise, if I just put everything in, it would be some plagiarism right? Its a no-no in any academic writing. I actually consider what I am doing here in this blog it more like academic writing, even though it is not as academic as those thesis or academic article written by amazing academia.

I actually very love learning English language and to me English language is very much the same as other languages. Its very lovely actually. I really want to actually further my studies in English language it I can, it would be in English Literature or Sociolinguistics. To be honest, I have found these two subjects would be very interesting. Literature is more on the creative side where we need to analyse what would be the inside meaning of others works. Let say, analysing Shakespeare's works and trying to be creative mind and trying to see the underlying meaning of his works. How amazingly difficult to convey that meaning and trying to tear thing apart for the sake of your thesis, right? hehe..

On the other hand, we have another amazingly fact subject, which is Sociolinguistics; focusing how social background affects language acquisitions. Fascinating subjects indeed. Plus, there are many elements that we need to think of in Sociolinguistics, semantic, phonology, sentence structure and whatnot. Why these elements is important? It is because, in looking indepth on the affect of social background to language acquisitions, we need to look at these elements. Nothing is sure, unless you managed to get the unbeatable evidences in your defense in let say, Viva? Right?

Personally, I would love to take on any each, but thinking about things might come in my way, it made me think twice before making such decision. Hahaha... well, tomorrow is new year right? So, happy new year and make your 2014 an big history that you would never forget and let 2015 a big year to come. Indeed, you have to make something for 2015, and I will. Yes.

Assalamualaikum WBT

Mum.

Assalamualaikum WBT,

Hi guys! It has been a while *a month actually.

I am so sorry for not writing any entries. I really-really am busy with life. People might see me as a person who sit around, doing nothing but to be honest, even thought I am not working like the others, my life actually very busy. I have things to do, constantly. Like for this one week started from last Monday, I was home but then, I have to sew. Why? I have a few clothes to make and it is make me very happy. Why? Because I dream is finally come true. Yay! Love it so much. Next week, I am going back to Kuala Lumpur starting working back after a week off. hehe... sounds official right? Yes, love to write that actually.

Now, later this evening, I got a letter from Universiti Malaysia Pahang regarding the job I applied about two months ago. I have decided to actually work with my cousin and pursue my own dreams, start a business and so on, but tonight my mum asked me...

"so, when is the interview?"
"I do not know mum, its on 13th I guessed".
"So, you will going there alone okay?"
"hmmm"

Hmmm was my answer. I do not know how on earth to explain it to her. I do not know how anymore. Please mum, have faith in me. Please. Let me do this, do now doubt me. I will my very best to pursue what I want to do. It is actually my destiny to do this. It is not haram to actually sew. I can make money mum. Yes, I know, every mum would worry to see their kids workless, but I am not. I have job, now. I have job now mum. Yes.

And I am not going and I will start paying my PTPTN loan immediately and I will contact that PTPTN person to actually discuss about make things affordable for me to pay it. Yes. I will. Don't worry mum. I will.

Song : Only Love Can Hurt Like This by Paloma Faith.

Assalamualaikum wbt,

I have this one song that I accidentally downloaded from the downloading site. Yes. hehe..

The song called Only Love Can Hurt Like This by Paloma Faith. Girl!!! This song is sickening! I really love the melody and also the lyrics. Too deep. Love it so much. This is the lyric of that song.

"Only Love Can Hurt Like This"
I'd tell myself you don't mean a thing,
But what we got, got no hold on me
But when you're not there I just crumble
I tell myself I don't care that much,
But I feel like I die 'til I feel your touch,

Only love, only love can hurt like this,
Only love can hurt like this
Must have been a deadly kiss
Only love can hurt like this

Say I wouldn't care if you walked away,
But every time you're there I'm begging you to stay,
When you come close I just tremble
And every time, every time you go,
It's like a knife that cuts right through my soul

Only love, only love can hurt like this
Only love can hurt like this,
Must have been a deadly kiss,
Only love can hurt like this,
Only love can hurt like this

Your kisses burn into my skin,
Only love can hurt like this
But it's the sweetest pain,
Burning hot through my veins,
Love is torture makes me more sure

Only love can hurt like this,
Only love can hurt like this,
Must have been the deadly kiss,
Only love can hurt like this,

Only love can hurt like this,
Your kisses burn into my skin,
Only love can hurt like this,
Only love can hurt like this,
Save me, save me,
Only love, only love,
'Cause only love can hurt like this
And it must have been the deadly kiss

I have not seen the music video yet and to be honest, I love her voice. I have another sickening song from her, Picking Up The Pieces. Yes! The song is sickening. Lovely. Paloma Faith is British and yes, I do love listening to their song. It more experimentally accepted by my two ears. I love iittt.. It becomes my favourite song now. Definitely! Lovely.

For you readers reading my blog now, open a new tab and search Paloma Faith Only Love Can Hurt Like This, and please! download it! Then you will know how sickening this song is. Trust me!

Learning English Grammar : Content Words and Function Words.

Assalamualaikum WBT,

How do you do my dear readers? I really hope that you could gain something from my writings here on my blog.

Now, for this entry I am going to write something more grammatical. Meaning, I am going to explain on English grammar. Correct me if I'm wrong, yes dear?

I will be explaining on Content Words and Function Words. These two are quite easy to understand and it is not that hard to actually apply the concept. Now, language make an important distinction between two kinds of words - content words and function words. Content words such as nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs. These kind of words denote concepts such as objects, actions, attributes and ideas. Content words are also known as Open Class, meaning, we could use the words alone to perform a meaningful sentence.

For example, we take a content word, noun type. Chicken. We know the meaning of the word 'chicken'. We can easily pointed out at these chicken and yelled 'Chicken!!', right? The words that said must be aligned with the real situation. Got that right?

Now, lets move to Function Words. As we read function words, we could get the insight meaning of the type of words already. Words that need to make the sentence functioning. So, it immediately related to grammar, English grammar. The words types such in prepositions, conjunctions, pronouns, determiner are called function words and it is also known as Closed Class. Closed Class which used as words to perform a complete sentence.

For example, let say a person said, 'A' without any referential to another person. It must created something that could make people misunderstood, right? So, what if that person said something like this, "A cat eat a mouse". Here, there are a few function words that could be extracted from that sentence, such as, "A and a" "Cat, Eat and Mouse" are Content Words. So, that makes sense right?

So, you understand now to differentiate between these two? It would be very much useful if you want to make tree diagram to extract sentences. Okay?

That is all for now.Thank you lovelies and,

Learn what you really want to learn.

Assalamualaikum wbt,

How do you do village people!! *almost like Faizdickieup already. hahaha..

Now, people said,

"You have to speak the language, to actually speak the language".

Tricky? yes, it could be very tricky, why? because, we learned languages and not all could have the opportunity to actually speak the language. How many of you excel in English language but not be able to communicate entirely, meaning with good grammar? How many? well, for those who are in the city, they usually have the opportunity to communicate using English language, but not for those who live in village or kampong. Why? not all could speak the English language.

Even though, some of us excel in English language at any levels in examination, UPSR, SPM, STPM or University level, still, the point of view when people want to speak or communicate using English language is very low. Meaning, they tend to say the people want to upgrade themselves by using English language are 'ungrateful', by saying, they said that those people forget the fact that they have their own mother tongues which they speak that before. Hows that?

The truth is, not everyone is like that. Some are very positive about the changes and they really want to upgrade themselves. That is all.

My advice, learn what you really want, and at least, you have your own satisfaction by learning it. No regrets.

Assalamualaikum WBT

p/s: I too learned a few things that I really love. Lovely.

Learning English Language Through Songs.

Assalamualaikum WBT,

People frequently asked me this question...

"What would be fastest way and the easiest way to learn and understand English language?"

Oh, dear, to be honest, there is no the fastest way or the easiest way to learn and understand English language, darling. But what I can say it, we Malaysians have the softest tongue to learn any languages, and in this case, its English. Yes, we do. Do not ask me why, because I do no know. This was told to me by my lecturer when I studying at UNISZA. A lovely university I could say dear. Lovely university, lovely people, lovely surroundings. I really love it.

Well, what I can say it, if you are a person who loves listening to musics, then start looking for English musics and also look for its lyrics. I found that very amusing because, you can enjoy the music and you can learn its lyrics, annnddd, you can understand the lyrics. You have to make sure that the song that you want to hear must have good English and if you could, avoid lyrics that have vulgar words in it.

If I were you, I would go back to 50's, 60's, 70', 80', and 90's musics where we could find great lyrics and good musics. I too would look to Whitney Houstons' songs, Michael Jackson, Queen, The Foreigner, these people created good song and lyrics. And you could gamble a little bit, you may search Avenged Sevenfold where they too have great music and most rock musics have very-very good emotional lyrics. Look for it. Okay?

This is one of the great lyrics in music world.

"Greatest Love Of All"

I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be

Everybody's searching for a hero
People need someone to look up to
I never found anyone who fulfilled my needs
A lonely place to be
And so I learned to depend on me

[Chorus:]
I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadows
If I fail, if I succeed
At least I'll live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can't take away my dignity
Because the greatest love of all
Is happening to me
I found the greatest love of all
Inside of me
The greatest love of all
Is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all

I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be

[Chorus]

And if, by chance, that special place
That you've been dreaming of
Leads you to a lonely place
Find your strength in love

You can study the lyrics and you can lots of things here. Grammar, verbs, nouns and whatnot. Okay?

Keep learning, even signboards could be our teachers. Yes.

Thank you.

English Language : Language and Brain Development.

Assalamualaikum WBT,

Happy Friday people and do not forget the perform Solat Jumaat, okay?

Okay now, I am going to write on Language and Brain Development.

Language and brain are actually intimately connected. This is because without the pure understanding of language we cannot communicate. Some people said Signs is not a language, but what is actually the purpose of language? To communicate, right? That is the main purpose of us having languages. Therefore, to think that brain does not have any connection with language is quite impossible.

Now, The Critical Period.

A child is introduced to language virtually at the moment of birth. BUT, as we all know, baby was in mummy's tummy for how long? 9 month 10 days *normally, so, in that period of time, the baby was already exposed to language uttered by the mother or people around the mother, so? it  is not specifically from the moment of birth but hey, my claim is not proper because I do not have any research to actually back up my opinion. I should do research? Haha,

Now, according to linguists, there is a Critical-Age Hypothesis that determined the language that will be picked up by the baby. It is also assume that language is biologically based and states that the ability to learn a native language develops within fixed period, from birth to middle childhood.

Then, somehow, there were cases that babies were abandoned by their parents or I do not know, abandoned, left out or kidnapped or whatever, but these cases somehow created stir because it against the HUMAN nature. Why? The critical-age period. The language learning period is somehow interrupted. Amala and Kamala were found in India, reportedly reared by wolves (1920). In 1970, Genie who reportedly been confined in small room and unable to interact with society from age eighteen months to almost fourteen years. None of these children were able to speak, communicate with human. So? Do language innate? That is the question.

To me, language ability is in our mind but we need to nurture the language. Yes, its nature but nurturing is important. Otherwise, we cannot acquire language. Therefore, for those who happened to have children, siblings who are still babies, please, keep teaching them language that you would prefer them to use. If its English language, then keep talking to them in English, then they will pick up that language along with other language that you used in your daily conversation with your spouse. Let say, your mother tongue is Bahasa Melayu then your second language is English language, but you want your children to share the same ability in communicate in both language, so, keep both language with same balance in communicating with them. Do be shy, just speak.

By the way, different people surely have different abilities to learn language. Like us Malaysians, not many have the ability to learn English language and be able to talk like those Britishs or Americans, but it is not possible. We can learn. Regardless what those English linguists have to say about the learning, it is actually up to you to learn. If you want it, no one could say NO, right?

So, keep learning. Everyone is learning one thing a day. So, why not?

Assalamualaikum WBT

p/s: Yes, I am going to keep writing too. Lovelies.

Learning English Grammar : Punctuation

Assalamualaikum wbt,

As you all know, Punctuation in any languages is very important, because it could bring a very big meaning to anything that we wrote or said. Therefore, having punctuation in certain sentences would create proper sentences.

What is Punctuation?

According to Wikipedia, punctuation means "the use of spacing, conventional signs, and certain typographical devices as aids to the understanding and correct reading, both silently and aloud, of handwritten and printed texts." Punctuation just does not mean Commas, it has a lot more. You may click on the given link to find more on punctuation.

Students usually have this feeling of omitting punctuation mark, I do not know whether they do not know where to put punctuation mark or they just need to write it fastly. *whatever they were writing about.

Let m give you a few examples,

1. my friend Mary lives in kuala lumpur.

2. He is reading the straits times.

So, could you find what is wrong with these sentences?

1. 'my' should be 'My'.
2. 'kuala lumpur' should be 'Kuala Lumpur'
3. There should be commas in the sentence after the word 'friend' and 'Mary'.

So, could you elaborate more on the second sentence? Yes, I really think you could do it.

There are lots of punctuation marks, such as comma, full-stop, question mark, exclamation mark and many more. You just need to know how to use these punctuation, welll, it just add colour to your writings. Yes.

That is all from me. Thank you.

Assalamualaikum wbt

p/s: will post more on English grammar.

Celebrating Milk.

Assalamualaikum WBT,

When I was studying in university, my lecturer asked each and everyone of us *students to come out with a campaign and present it in front of the class. I chose to do more on drinking milk campaign sadly, unfortunately, my campaign did not proceed. I do not know why, well, never mind then right.

Now, as the time goes by, milk ads, articles and commercials would always be on television. Yes, most of on the television were those infant mild formula which actually not very good, why? because its somesort not the real milk. Well, something like that.

Therefore, I chose to write more on milk. Since the first World Milk Day was held in 2001, many countries throughout the world have participated in the celebration and the number is growing day by day. Did you know that milk is considered "nature's wellness drink"? The creamy white beverage contains calcium, vitamin D, phosphorous and a balance of other nutrients that have been proven to build your bones and teeth as well as promote the healthy function of your muscles and blood vessels. And in the midst of all the new vitamin waters, energy drinks and other artificially contrived beverages, milk is a healthy choices from mother earth.

People who are drinking milk considered fat but it is actually very wrong. There was a research done by Dr Wendy Brazilian, the author of The SuperFoodsRx Diet and co-owner of San Diego based Bazilian's Health Clinic proved that "mothers who drink milk are more likely to have daughters who drink milk and milk drinkers tend to have healthier overall diets and tend to be leaner than non-milk drinkers".

But then I do aware of those who have this lactose intolerant which they cannot drink milk or eat any milk-based products. To those who have this problem, please go to your doctors and ask them about what to eat and what not to eat. Meaning, you have to consult your nutritionist because you need to know the portions that your body needs and without activating the intolerance.

Plus, drinking milk is actually very good, but please, do not confused yourself with condensed milk, where, it surely do not have any of those vitamins mentioned in pure milk. When I was little, my mum bought me milk in that box but I did not drink it, why? At that time, to me it tasted funny, I did not like that taste. Seriously, but as I growing up, I do like the taste of milk,I love it very much, With the nutrients mentioned in various articles, it is likely to be very well balanced drink.

By drinking milk, it also can be the agent to build your body. Right?

That is all from, me, Drink Milk For Your Health.

Assalamualaikum WBT

p/s: Did you know that milk is considered food not drink?

Raya Cards over Social Messages.

Assalamualaikum WBT,

Sometimes I wonder, would my English skill put me down? Honestly, I do not have the answer for that, but one thing I know now, I need to lower down my expectation towards things. Anything. Yes.

Well, Eid Fitr is around the corner now. I need to send out my raya cards to everyone. Yes, I am a little bit traditional when it comes to raya. Raya cards are like, a must. I prefer cards over SMS. I don't know. I really love the feel of it. I like it. Love it.

Nowadays, people tend to use social media to send raya wishes. Well, I do that too, but I too send cards to those I love. As for me, sending raya cards is like something that needs to be refreshed. People need to know that spending on raya cards and also stamps is not that much compared to the feeling, emotions when they received the cards. Love right?

Compared to personal message, facebook wishes, tweets, whatsapp message, those raya wishes just there and will be gone as second the new one comes in. But, not raya cards when you received that raya card, you will put that somewhere where people could see and you could see it too. Well, at least, that what I usually do when I received raya cards.

But nowadays, people preferred easy things right? Where they could just send tonnes of raya wishes to their friends without fail, unless the bill is on hold. Hihu... but, hey, people surely have different views on things. Why make this complicated, right? As for me, sending raya cards it not troublesome as people see it. I really don't mind. I love to write raya cards. Love it.

Well, as for a start, I got a raya card from this one blogger, Suria Amanda. Thanks kak, surely will return the favour. Thanks again.

What about you? Favour raya card? Or not?

Learning Styles : Children Edition.

Assalamualaikum WBT,

Well, it has been awhile since I wrote about Learning Strategies, but now, I am going to write about its sister, Learning Styles. Hehe.. Both learning Strategies and learning Styles have their similarities and differences, but they actually quite different.

Today, I read about learning styles written by Priscilla Dunstan who is a behavioural researcher and creator of the Dunstan Baby Language and author of Child Sense and Calm The Crying. Dunstan pointed out four (4) types of children in learning styles.

1. Visual children
2. Auditory children
4. Taste/smell children

1. Visual Children

Visual children will love the order of the alphabet. They love learning using visuals such as pictures, words, writing on chalkboards and whatnot. Visual children actually need help from the auditory aspect, why? because no matter how good their styles in learning using visual, but without great auditory support, I mean, those who assist them to pronounce the words correctly, well, it is the defect of learning style.

2. Auditory Children

Auditory children love sounds. They will love musics, why? Music is sound. In terms of creativity, they would recognised the words easily because they listened to it. But, it too has its own defect, one for sure is, these auditory children would have tough time recognising the words, for example, if they were showed with flashcards, they would not straight away know the words, why? Because, flashcards does not have sounds, Unless, they created one now. One good way to escape from this problem, the parents MUST incorporate visual with the sound. That would added up the value to the learning style.

3. Tactile Children

Tactile children is quite special. In learning language, we have a lot of unique identities with children. Some learned very fast, some would have a hard time just to remember the letters. Hard right? But, tactile children sometimes are very clever but they have this feeling of hypersensitive, whereas, they happened to hate or dislikes a lot of things. Sometimes, they need to be treated as much care as possible. Having said that, they need something that really could keep them occupied. Usually, tactile children love games,  arcade, physical games, moulding words using Play-Doh and whatnot. As long as it keep them occupied, they its good. So, tactile children involved almost all of the learning styles. What ever that you could think of. Yes.

4. Taste/Smell Children

Taste/smell children really need something else. They need to feel safe and nurtured in order to learn. Interest is the key point here. Everything must have the interest, they are special. Let say, books that have example of any skin of animals, let say, a crocodile, and it has the rough skin. By reading together with taste/smell children, it will create this bond and this bond is the key point too. It shows that the parents are also interested in learning and it makes the children feel that they on the right track with learning. Lovely. By making the experience of learning to read sensory, your child will not only gain valuable skill but also build on the pleasure of learning. Hows that for a start?

These styles were researched by Dunstan, and lovely, she really captured the essence of learning styles in children. In learning language, the best ever to learning language is from birth to two years old. Linguists also came out with this hypotheses, Critical Period. So, that is why, you will determine your children's mother tongue. Why? Everything you speak will be the first language for you child, if you determined to speak English language and wished that English language would be your child's first language, then, you have to expose your child with English language by speaking English language all the time with correct Grammar, otherwise, without proper grammar, your child with 'inherit' the grammatical errors made by the parents. It would hard to correct the mistake then, when the child acquire the language already.

So, if you reader have children, then it is better to actually look thoroughly what are the preferences of your children. Visual? Auditory? Taste/smell? or Tactile? It is important that you walk with your children through the learning period. Vital. Crucial.

That is all for now.

Assalamualaikum WBT

p/s: reading is too crucial. Mark that Parents!

Assalamualaikum WBT,

Today, I want to talk about "feeling". Yes, feeling.

Sometimes, what we saw in other peoples' appearances is not the real deal. Sometimes, people are using their outter layers to actually make believe that they are who they are, but in real life, they are not.

Why are they doing this?

Well, I sometimes, too, have this insecurity about myself. I often want to get out from my own life and do something that people would care less about me. I wished people do not know me, I wished they never knew me, at all. I wished but I can't. I really can't. Why? because we built in this world to live the life given to us, not to just live it but we actually need to do something with it.

How?

Well, out existence might be not really important to others, but trust me, there are people who willing to accept us as we are. Who are they? Our parents, our friends, our closest friends, our partner. These people really love us as who we really are. They accepted us because they know us, they love us, most important, they trust us.

Yes, sometimes, insecurity does put something our own shoulders right? But, that is life. God knows best. God knows what is best for us. Sometimes, He put extremely hard test on us just because He knows that we would able to survive that test. God gives other people different test.

We do not know what other people are facing in their lives. What we know is sometimes not what we really know. Simple as that. So? From now on my friends, keep your head held high and start walking. Walk your path like a boss. No one could say NO to you but yourself.

Assalamualaikum WBT

p/s: love it.

Welcome Ya Ramadhan...

Assalamualaikum WBT,

Dear my darling readers, Ramadhan has landed to our time and we need to cherish Ramadhan as much as we can. Why? As a Muslim, we have this undoubted faith towards Islam and Ramadhan is one of the great amazing months that comes once a year and the content of Ramadhan is amazing and incomparable.

The Rahmat in Ramadhan is special, cherishing is with dzikir, solah, du'a, good deeds is a must. Sodakah is actually one of the good deeds too, giving to those who unfortunate is pure good deed, but it must not attached to ri'a or takabbur which means, we cannot brag about the good deeds that we have done.

"One (human) cannot know what good deeds we've done by bragging about it. Let just Allah repay the good deeds".

In Ramadhan, we have to fast from the Farj until the Dusk. Meaning. From night to night. The main purpose of Ramadhan is actually to remind us (the fasts) to those who are very less fortunes, where they have little to eat. For example, those who are in Syria, Iran, Afghanistan where Muslims are scared and bombarded with bombs by evil people. Subhanallah, may Allah ease your pain brothers and sisters. Amin.

In Malaysia, Ramadhan has a few ways to let people know its arrival.

1. Bazaar Ramadhan
2. Yusuf Taiyoud ads
3. Dates ads
4. Ramadhan Buffet
5. Shopping spree

These are the 'signs' of Ramadhan created human. Creative aren't they? lovely.

Well, that is all for now, I am going to take a short nap and in shaa Allah, today, I will be cooking something. In Shaa Allah. Amin.

Assalamualaikum WBT

p/s; love Ramadhan.

Ideas Overflow VS Blankness to the max.

Assalamualaikum WBT,

Sometimes, I asked myself,

"why the heck you HAVE to have TWO blogs?"
"like you have LOTS to write?"

Well, that the sometimes questions, but then when I want to write... these would be questions,

"Well, what am I going to write *too many incredible ideas to write?"
"should I write two or three entries?"

LULZ! See that? The ideas overflow vs Blankness to the max.

Shootville. When the blankness to the max come, I could never think of anything to write. Sometimes, I tried to write as much as I can to actually retrieve the ideas but unfortunately, I can not do it. I do not know why, I've tried but I can't.

But then the ideas overflow come, hell! step aside ladies and gentlemen!!! I want to write, like hello! I want to write NOW. not later, not next hour, NOW! I want to write NOW. But then, there will be a new freaking problem,

Well, as you all know, well, some might not, I am using the Kampung Tanpa Wayar (KTW) or Wireless (internet) Village, where the Malaysian Government provides the services of FREE INTERNET ACCESS for selected villages and sometimes, the KTW is not functioning. Why? How the hell I know? For the last two days, the internet has been a pain in every users' ass and it is like I want to give the transmitter a good punch! hahahhaa.. but hey, be patient right? Do not make any trouble indeed.

Then, when the internet is back on, I have nothing to write. I have to like really refresh my memories and try to write again. Lovely. That is me, but even thought this blog has been 'neglected' or 'abandoned' for great 6 days, still love is in the air. I love my english language blog. I do.

But for now, I need to look for something to write, I want to back on online grammar class... hehehe..

Assalamualaikum WBT

p/s: thank you for reading my blog my dear darling readers. Love u.

Special Test!

Assalamualaikum WBT,

Yesterday, I went to this Special Test or Ujian Khas for Pegawai Tadbir Universiti Malaysia Pahang and there were 3 tests that I like the most.

1. Reading comprehension in English
2. Writing in English
3. Conversation in English.

Alhamdulillah, to me, I did quite well in those test and among these three, I love the third one the most. Conversation in English. The evaluator, Miss Farah has an amazing English. The way she pronounced those words as she is a native speaker and to me she is an English native speaker. I incredibly amazed by her amazing English.

to be honest, the minute I heard her UK English accent, I was immediately excited and just trying to be as calm as I can, why? Because to me she has knowledge in English beyond that I could imagine. Compared to my English, she is like 100 KM in front of me, I'm like, whuuttt..

Please, if you had a chance to talk to her, please dont, hahaha... just hear her talks, let her do the talking. Just by listening to her talking is everything. I too have friends who happened to have good English command but I have never in my life talked to a person like Miss Farah.

And I personally want to talk to her more about how she picked up such amazing UK accent. Lots to asked from her, but so little time. Yes, it was during the test, so can't ask her a lot, all I can do it listen to her and answered her questions as good as I can. hehe.. alhamdulillah, I think I answered her questions quite well. After all, those people said, they want to see our ability to talk in English. In shaa Allah, everything is well.

That is all.

Assalamualaikum wbt

p/s. I wonder she would read my writings in both blogs. hurrmmm...

Being Overweight Is Hard, Difficult Indeed.

Assalamualaikum WBT,

I want to be like this..hehe

Do still remember the entry I wrote explaining about Language Learning Strategies? well, you remember a bit, then you'd better click this link. LLS

Now, I want to tell you about something, this totally out of English grammar topic but it is something that made me aware of something. Yes.

Early this 2014, I went to a place for an interview, I did not tell it here, I think but the thing is, that interview actually as a small wake up call for me. In what? In trying to lose weight as much as I can. Why?

Well, the situation was like this,

The interviewers asked me about my weight, I mean the mobility of me running around and do the jobs and whatnot. But the way they asked me was not straight forward, it was more like,

"If you had to work late, would you able to do it? It would not effect your health right? And most of our building do not have lift so, using stairs, would you be okay?"

My answer,

"Thank you for the questions, to be honest, I will not be effected by all these conditions, plus, in shaa Allah, I will be able to lose weight running errands and stairs? Would be the best tool for me to lose weight and no I will not effected by these simple tasks"

"No, we just concern about your health and weight".

"Thank you for your concern and as mentioned, I will not be effected by that and I will try my very best to execute the jobs given to me by you".

"Thank you'.

If you were in my position, what would be your response?

And that incident actually made me realise that I really have to lose weight. Like, really. I have too. To be honest, to get started is hard but once you started your diet and everything, it will be okay. In shaa Allah. I am still struggling with everything. Diet, food, drinks and whatnot, its hard but what I can do is, try my very best in exercising.

As for me, I am not exercise drastically, I started slowly and alhamdulillah, it started to show its compatibility with my own body. I mean, the diet, the exercise, the weight lost (do not yet). hehe, but I do feel lighter now compared to last year. Alhamdulillah. I am grateful to Allah for all this given to me by Him. Amin.

Its hard, its difficult, but its harder when I am overweight. I have been living like this since I can remember, I mean, being fat. But now, I still fat but not as fat as i used to. Alhamdulillah. I hope this will be a continuous process where I could lose some more weights and be able to get my ideal weight, which is 75 kg, and I am now 100 something kg. I need to lose AT LEAST 30 kgs to achieve my ideal weight. *sigh. its hard but in shaa Allah, if I be honest to myself and determined to lose weight, concentrate, in shaa Allah, I will be able to do it.

That is all for now I think.

Assalamualaikum WBT

p/s: being fat is hard, but they called me acceptably fat. Such words existed? haha dear.

Language Learning Strategies : Memory Strategies

Assalamualaikum WBT,

Now, in the last entry I wrote about this,

Bear in mind, this is about learning strategies not learning styles. They have their differences, okay?

Now, we are going to talk about Memory Strategies.

What is memory strategies? Is it that important in learning language?

Memory strategies is a particular activity to help learning language by memorising the words and the structures of the language.

It is actually very important because, since we are English Second Language Learners (ESL), we need to actually memorise words at the beginning but eventually memorising will become retrieve. Meaning, we know the word already, we have memorised them and all we need to is just retrieve. That is all. But at the beginning, it is memorising then it turned into already there. Hope this work. hehe... I am not really good in explaining things. hehe..

So, what are the memory strategies?

Well, as an example, have played flash cards before? Kindergarten maybe? So that is memory strategies, well, one of those million activities in learning English language using memory strategies. In Flash cards we tend to memorise them right?

Usually in Flash Cards, there are two separate elements, which are, images (pictures) and also words (alphabets). Either way, the intentions is to make our mind memories the shown cards and learning language *thats the ultimate intention.

It is also the same with songs. We remember the lyrics with the songs together but then when we know the words already, do we need to look for the lyrics in paper? No right? Why? Because we remember the words, the structures already. Why that happened? It happened because the words already stored in our mental lexicon bank. Amazing right? Cute.

Well, that is all for now. Thank you.

Assalamualaikum WBT

p/s: memory strategies is quite okay. Love it. It is learning acquisition. hehe...

Learning English : Language Learning Strategies.

Assalamualaikum WBT,

As promised, I would love to write about Language Learning Strategies which, this would actually help us in learning language (s) and in this case, it is English language. And since this blog is focusing on learning English language, lets just bear in mind it is about English language, yes?

Now, what is Learning Strategies?

Learning Strategies defined as specifications, behaviours, steps, or techniques -- such as seeking out conversation partners, or giving oneself encouragement to tackle a difficult language task -- used by students to enhance their own learning (Scarcella & Oxford, 1992 p.66).

So that is language strategies. Back those days, my supervisor, Dr. Normah asked me to look for recent articles as the references, but, I am so sorry Dr. I found just those articles published on the internet but alhamdulillah, I managed to get good grade on that thesis. A few lecturers said that my topic is quite 'long-time-ago', I mean, I little bit 'not new' but, hey, I almost half way on that topic, please. Hahaha, there is no way I'm going to change it! please.

Now, lets comeback to the main topic.

What are the elements or the items under language learning strategies?

1. Memory Strategies
2. Cognitive Strategies
3. Compensation Strategies
4. Metacognitive Strategies
5. Affective Strategies
6. Social Strategies

These are the items under language learning strategies that we need to know.

Above is the chart by Oxford (1990) and she divided into two main groups which are, Direct Strategies and Indirect Strategies. Later on, I will explain more one the items on each group. But, in order for us to know which strategy that used the most in learning English language, we need to talk a simple test, its called SILL ( Strategy Inventory of Language Learning).

Sometimes, some of us might asked ourselves, why the hell I need to study this? It is not like I have give lecture to students. Well, you have those questions, give me five darling, I too had those questions before. But, when I think back, there reason why we learned all sorts of things, it is to prepare us for the world out there. Don't worry, keep learning, no one could stop you from learning, plus, its a good thing to learn, well at least you learn something, right? hehe...

For this entry, I will try to make it short and I just want you to know what are the strategies for language learning, that is all. Later on, I mean, in the next entries, I will explain more on the strategies. Yes, one by one with examples, okay? Don't worry, we try to figure this our together, okay?

Well, its just language, nothing more. hahaha...

Assalamualaikum wbt

p/s: some said, "learning English language is not good, you'd better learn Mandarin". B? are kidding me right? hahahha

Learning Curves!

Assalamualaikum WBT,

Have you heard about Learning Curve?

Well, I have, and I personally think, the learning curve should be like this.

It should not be like this. Why? To be honest, learning should not have curves, why? Because, its not only for women, it also for men. Well, men should not have curves. hahahaha.. Kidding.

Yes, it should not have curves. Plus, learning is a longtime, continuous activity. No one should consider stop learning. Learning can be formally or informally. Like me, I am now reading Task-based Language Learning and Teaching by Rod Ellis. I found it very interesting book and very helpful for a person like to start something else other than creative mind job, something like that.

In addition, it took me two long years to know that I am really into English language. The technical terms, the systems, the grammar, the unique vocab, and whatnot. I really love it. The more I read, the more I don't understand and I love it. It makes me want to read more. It makes me want to know more about particular topic. Really.

Remember those tonnes of books that I owned from my uni life? I still read them, why? To be honest, reading is one of my hobbies. Reading makes me wonder, reading makes me think and most of all, reading makes me imagine things. I mean, the more I read, the more want to know about things. That is why, internet is so important nowadays. Books are important too, but books can only provide particular topic within the topic of the book, but internet can do some much that books. Really.

That is why, learning should not have curve why? Because learning is a process. No one should stop but just keep soaring in learning. Improve and keep reading. Believe in yourself. It does not have to be formal, it you do not want the fuss about examinations and whatnot, keep reading and worry not about the exam, why? because you learn in informally. hehehe.. like me.

Assalamualaikum WBT

p/s: Next time, I will provide you with the Language Learning Strategies results. I wrote it as my thesis back in the day. hehe

Learning English Grammar : 'If' Conditional Sentence and its types.

Assalamualaikum WBT,

I feel like I have abandoned this blog for quite sometimes. Haish. I am so sorry blog, not posting any entry made me sick too, why? I lost the momentum already. There were times I was so darn excited in writing blog, like almost 2 entries per day, but now. Don't ask. Yes.

Okay, now, last week, we were on Whatsapp but then I did not able to reply because I did not have internet connection to active the Whatsapp and my friends were discussing about Conditional Tenses (English). Darlings, after a few websites and light reading, conditional tenses is actually quite tricky. Why? Well, there are five (5) conditions that we need to know in Conditional Tenses. What the the conditions?

See the example above and also the explanation. As for the 'zero' conditional, it has this element that it will happen it this happened. So, the result is always right. See the example give. "If you heat ice, it melts". What does it mean? It means, when ice is heated, it will melt. why? Its science. Got it right?

Then the Type 1 Conditional, okay, for this one, its a little bit tricky. Well, at least, to me, I do not know about you, I am not perfect darlings. hahaha.. well, no matter what, I will try to explain about it. As mentioned in the picture, its about the tense (time) both present and future and the situation is REAL but its too about the possibilities might be given by the other subject. Let say, 'If you make a mistake, someone will let you know". This is the example, as you can see there, the clause is 'if you make a mistake' and the main clause is 'someone will let you know'. What does it mean? It means, if you make mistake *in any possible ways people could think of, someone will let you know your mistake. That the possibility. And bear in mind that the situation is real.

Well, for the Type 2 Conditional is more like the type 1 but honestly, its different. Trust me. It is also based on time but the situation is UNREAL. Why? Why Unreal? Let see the example above. 'If it rained, you would get wet'. Well, that the clause and the main clause, but since we are discussing about conditional tense, the use 'if' is important. In this Type 2 conditional, it is not based on fact. It more to the hypothetical condition with the probable result. Let say if it rained and I would get wet. Would I? there two things that we could ask back, 1, its not going to be rained, 2, i have my umbrella. So, would I get well. This is where the 'what is' questions would easily slipped from our own mouth when we want to have argument. Yes. But in terms of grammar, that is the clause and the main clause. It is just based on the hypothetical conditions where we do not even know what might happen. will it rain today? Right? now you know.

Now, the Type 3 Conditional, it is used in past perfect and the main clause is the perfect conditional. This one is very darn tricky. Hahaha.. i had to read a few times to understand it. Well, the nature of this Type 3 Conditional is UNREAL. The time is obviously, past. Let see this other example,
"If you had warned me, I would not have told your father about that party."(But you didn't, and I have). This is usually comes with hatred. Hahaha... you want to tell the thing but then you choose to tell someone about it but then you denied it. Eff you! hahahaha.. Ask yourself, you might have done this before. Well, somehow it connected. Let see another example, refer the picture above, 'If you have worked harder, you would have passed the exam'. Would you? Even if you worked harder, would you passed the exam? Somehow, this Type 3 conditional sentences are more likely to get away from the situation. Awkward situation. Yes. And try to pamper people. This Type 3 conditional sentences. Bear in mind, contrary to reality, unreal, opposite. Obviously, two faces would love this type. hahaha...

Well, this one is mixed between two types. Type 2 and Type 3. But the result is in the present and in the past is unreal and the reality is what you already passed. Well, complicated?  A bit, yes. Let see the example given. "If I had worked harder at school, I would have a better job now". Can you see that? Its quite easy, now we look the words one by one. The if' clause is past perfect and the main clause is present conditional, we look at the past perfect first, 'If I had worked harder at school...' Well, since it is past perfect, we know he was not a good grader at school, right? And the second one, "...I would have a better job now'. Another negative meaning implied, well, obviously, we know that he have good job but he might me tired of his job. Who knows right? So, there you go. Understood already eyh? hehe...

No doubt its quite complicated. But we need to read it. I have this a little bit easy-to-understand sheet.

'If' is often used in a Conditional Clause. We use the Simple Present tense in Conditional Clauses to show that things are likely to happen. The other clauses are the Simple Future Tense.

There is another Conditional Clause. The use of Simple Past tense in Conditional Clauses to show that things unlikely to happen. The other clauses are used in the Present Conditional tense (would or should + an infinitive).

Sooo? how? okay? hahaha... *broken English a bit. No matter what, we need to read more, since English language is not our mother tongue. Well, some of us, not me. My mother tongue is Malay. So, speak Malay lah? Gitu? hehehe..

Assalamualaikum WBT
